Why
stay in our villa?
1.
First and foremost, this is designed and built as both a comfortable home, as well as
a no-worries rental property. It's basically a piece of our pension planning that we rent out to cover some of the costs.
2. We started by carefully selecting a quiet, over-sized piece of
land that backed onto the Rotonda River. Then we bought the plot next door to ensure some space.
3. Then we picked out the best house design
we could find from a terrific local builder with a great track record.
We made a few adjustments to that design with support from a local
realtor (estate agent). Then, again with much professional advice
from an interior designer, we carefully selected all of the decor
options. The result is a comfortable home with everything you would
have in your own home designed for comfortable living rather than
as a cheap rental property - truly a home from home!
4. The house was completed in February 2002. Since then we have painted it almost every year to keep it fresh. We replaced all of the carpetting in 2007. We replace the bedding and the towels every couple of years. We pay a local management company to take care of the lawns, shrubs and pool, and to fix the smallest thing that fails or breaks.
5. We know we are probably not the cheapest. We know we are one of the nicest
villas, with a few features that truly distinguish us, such as the
electrically heated pool and 2 SPAs. The villa rental cost represents
only a modest portion of the overall cost of any vacation so why
cut corners. You will appreciate and value the differences - all
of our visitors so far have!
6. More than half of our visitors every year are repeat bookings. We always offer first refusal to previous guests and also a modest discount as an incentive to return.
Why
visit this area?
1. Rotonda is basically a nature
reserve with the Rotonda River running through it. Built in the
shape of a wheel, it is a well designed community that includes
4 golf courses, no shops, amusement arcades, bars, restaurants or
any other commercial premises.
2. Englewood - the adjacent small "town" is as yet unspoilt
with very little development. Of
course it has the "essentials" including a Winn Dixie,
MacDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, Wal-Mart and Denny's. It also has many
small family-owned and run establishments which provide charm and
character. As an example, at the local bowling alley, someone else programs the
scoring for you - it feels like stepping back in time around 30 years.
3. The nearest beach is about
a 12 minute drive. If it is busy, it will be with the pelicans,
cranes, egrets and gulls - we have never seen many people there
- apart from sunset-watchers - oh and of course dolphins. We lied, it gets pretty busy on 4th July for the fireworks!
4. For golfers there is enormous choice. The nearest is about 2 minutes
away by car (maybe 5 mins on foot), and we have a link to over 50 courses
within a few miles on our golf courses page.
And compared to most places in the world, it's remarkably inexpensive.
5. Within 30 minutes there are a number of beautiful, unspoilt, clean, soft
beaches and parks; most with picnic areas and BBQ's.
6.The sea and intra-coastal waterway are warm and generally calm
with gently sloping beaches, making them safe (we think) and fun
for swimming, boating, wind-surfing, jet-skiing, fishing and generally
lazing around.
7. If you get bored with all this relaxing, Busch Gardens, the Everglades, even Disney are just a couple of hours drive.
In summary....... if you want a quiet, relaxing, laid back, refreshing,
revitalising holiday or vacation in an unspoilt, safe and secure
environment, then this area is absolutely ideal for you.
