Rear GardenOur villa is built on a larger than average plot which provides both an extensive lawned area at the rear and also contributes to the overall privacy and feeling of peace and calm. The extended length of our plot leading down to the river provides considerable privacy for guests.As of April 2007 the plots on either side of us are vacant and undeveloped. At the bottom of the garden is the Rotonda River, often referred to as the canal. Although not connected directly to the Gulf of Mexico - and hence not tidal - this extends around the Rotonda development for over 20 miles. Flying visitors include ospreys, snowy egrets, wood storks, woodpeckers and many more. On foot we've seen racoons, armadillos, bobcats, foxes and a family of large, and very fast, tortoises. Remember that Rotonda is a nature reserve with no hunting allowed. |
